Local Football Team Sponsored for a New Kit

Wigan Junior Latics U12s have been sponsored for a new football kit courtesy of Fibrelight Communication Networks.

The team’s manager Phil Jones says “the kids are delighted with their new kit” and that “it has been a real boost for the players and the club”.

Formed in 1983 for Wigan Athletic’s junior supporters, the club provides structured football opportunities for youngsters aged between 6 and 17.

It has three primary objectives:

• to promote participation in Association Football for young people in and around the Wigan area;
• to help participants gain from and have a positive experience of playing football;
• and to encourage players to progress to higher levels if desired (e.g. Schools of Excellence with professional clubs). The club has achieved considerable success in its 30+ years.

The U12s team formed in the summer of 2010, starting in Division 2 of the Warrington Junior Football League and reaching the Premiere Division for the 2012/13 season.

Since then it has cemented its premiere league status. The team’s manager adds: “It’s great to see companies from Wigan supporting their local community and clubs like ours because it really does make a difference and sport can help kids in so many ways.”
